Floating - The very first step in swimming!
How to Float on Water
- Find a place that is safe enough for float, where the water is not too deep.
- Relax and let all the tension from your muscles ease off. Tensed muscles make the body less buoyant.
- Take a few deep breaths. The air in your lungs serves as a flotation device for your chest.
- Go down in water and walk to the area that has waist-deep water.
- Stretch your arms out in front of you and taking a deep breath, fill your lungs with air.
- Now, tuck your head down and push off with your feet till you are in a horizontal position in the water.
- Bring your arms together and slowly bring them over your head, till the time you are in a streamlined position. Do not try to perform any swimming strokes at this point of time.
- Remain in the position for around 5 seconds. Thereafter, stand up inside the water.
- Keep on repeating, till you become perfect in the technique.
- After you have mastered floating in shallow water and practiced enough, try it out in chest-deep water. However, make sure that an experienced friend or a coach is around you when you attempt to do this for the first time.

First Lesson Learnt!
You do not need to go to swimming classes to learn swimming. It is said - "Before a baby can walk, or even crawl, your baby can swim." It implies that swimming is an innate quality in us and we just need to hone our skill.
You need to just overcome your water fear (if at all you are scared of deep waters). Once done, you should get the technique right to look like a professional swimmer when you swim :) So stay tuned to get more and more information on swimming!

How Swimming Pools gained importance in my life??
It all started when my 5 year old niece Ishu started going for swimming classes. As a kid and even now, I am the first one to jump into almost anything that comes my way. So when my bhabhi asked me "Do you want to learn swimming?" The answer was obvious. The very next day, I joined a swimming class not so near my office :P.
The class used to start at 6:30 in the morning till 8:00 A.M. or 8:30 A.M.. So I had to get up at 5 to reach my swimming classes on time. Initial few days were tough but somehow I felt very comfortable in water. As days passed, I didn't realize that I had got addicted! I had touched that fifth element (water) in me and I could feel a strong drive which would push me to get up at 5 in the morning without alarm!! Oh yes, even I could not believe it. More than me, Darshit was shocked to see me so passionate about swimming!!!
It's when my obsession crossed Darshit's tolerance, I thought of writing this blog. A blog dedicated to my swimming endeavors and my efforts to improve my swimming skills by sharing lots and lots of information on swimming!
